Governors : Dear Parents
Dear Parents,
May I welcome you to St Sampson's Junior School on behalf of the governors. As you can see from the previous list the governing body is made up from different sections of the community but we all have one thing in common, that we are ordinary people who have given up our time to help ensure that St Sampson's Junior School is the best it can be. The Clerk to the Governing body is paid to look after the administration and keep us abreast of information from government, both local and national.
The Governing Body of the school has three key roles
- To provide a strategic view - To act as a critical friend - To ensure accountability
In practice this means it agrees targets, policies and priorities, then monitors and reviews them. It also offers support and acts as a sounding board for ideas whilst seeking to promote the best interests of the school and pupils. It aims to provide good quality education.
The Governing Body meets regularly, at least once a term, and has three subcommittees that deal with finance, staffing and premises. Visits into school also take place on a regular basis.
A written report is issued to all parents once a year providing a variety of information and outlining the achievements of the school during that year. Following this, a meeting may be held to provide parents with an opportunity to ask questions concerning the life of the school. Past copies of this report can be obtained from the school office.
I hope you will find your family's association with the school rewarding and stimulating and that you will support the aims and ideals to which we all aspire.
Yours sincerely,
Viv Wise (Mrs.) Chair of Governors.
