St Sampsons Junior School

 School Clubs : Sporting

The school provides the children with a range of extra curricular activities which creates a sporting culture in the school. Not only do teachers provide these after school clubs but we also have specialists who coach, TAG rugby, cycling and football.

The sports teams compete in many leagues, tournaments and festivals. The boys football team competes in the West Swindon league and tournament as well as the Pentel cup, and the girls football team also competes in this cup. The cricket team competes in the county league and the netball team competes in the West Swindon league and tournaments as well Wiltshire festivals. The TAG rugby club currently take part in the North Wiltshire festivals and also have friendly matches against some of the Swindon schools.

Last year the Netball team qualified for the youth games and amazingly became the youth games runners up. An excellent achievement! We actively encourage participation in sporting activities and believe that they play an important part in a childs life. We have at the school individuals who also participate in sport and we fully support them. We have gymnasts, trampolinists and tennis players.

Lastly, I would just like to thank all the teachers who  give up their spare time which is completely voluntary, in order to provide these opportunities for the children. Thank you.
