 School Clubs : Chess
Chess Club displays by the schools children.
Chess club is now in its 4th year and has gone from strength to strength since it began. At the moment 29 children, from years 3 to 6, attend the club each week. Some of the children are now quite experienced chess players and play regularly in Wiltshire Chess League inter-school matches, as well as representing Wiltshire in national competitions round the country.
Each year we enter a National Chess Challenge – which attracts about 72,000 entrants from all over the country. Last year, 13 of our children qualified for the south west region (the mega–final) and some even qualified for the South of England round (the giga-final) competing against national champions!
In spite of all of our successes, the emphasis at Chess Club is to have fun, have a go and be a good sport!
